  • High temperature deposition (>400C) is not allowed
         in precision forming die. The dimension of WC will
         alter slightly. Ti based coatings is not good candidate
         for this application.
  • Ti based coatings have high friction coefficient (0.5)
         as compared to DLC (0.1). Low friction will ensure
         the operation generates lesser heat and ensure
         smoother lead surface after forming.
  • DLC is non sticky to the lead’s surface which
         typically is plated with Ni alloys. Minimum residue is
         observed on the DLC coated die compared to TiN
         coated or uncoated die

    Nanofilm’s L series system is designed to deposit a layer of ta-C film with precise control of coating thickness and film properties. The machine is the industrial standard for the glass lens insert coating to prolong the lifespan and to reduce the sticking issue during the glass lens production. All major digital camera makers are using the L series system to in their production to improve the production efficiency and to reduce the cost of glass lens fabrication. The benefits of the ta-C deposited with this machine are namely:

        • Able to withstand high temperature (up to 900ºC) under
         control ambient
        • Ready recipe for most kind of glass materials and lens
         diameters (from pick-up to SLR lens)
        • Deposit on the large lens for SLR camera (>50mm) with
         low particle count
        • Deposit on the aspherical lens will excellent uniformity
         (<5%)
        • Coat on large angle lens (~70º) with good uniformity
         (<30%)


    The machine is equipped with the following configuration to cater for the most stringent requirement

        • Two chambers system to eliminate the environment
         contaminate
        • Fully automated system enabling the pumping, transfer,
         ion beam cleaning, FCVA deposition and venting
        • Database to log the necessary process and production
         record
        • Safety features enabling the safety of the operators
        • Designed and built for clean room environment


    In additional to the glass lens application, the machine is suitable for the CD/VCD/DVD/HD-DVD/BD mold coating. The coating is able to improve the lifespan of the mold (on the stepper side) up to 4 millions shots. The coating is also suitable to use for plastic and rubber injection mold coating
